Whitey-whitey the she-duck

Today, Sarah caught Whitey-whitey and brought her up the hill for a quick picture.


Strangely, as she neared the top, something fell from them. As I looked, I saw...



Yep. It appears to be the 5th duck egg, not quite ready to be laid.

Needless to say, Sarah felt pretty bad about the whole thing.



And I thought of our friends who have never seen a soft-shelled egg! Who would be amazed, as we are, that the texture is paper thin, but rough, waiting for the completion of the mineralization.





So, what was I to do? But get it on a plate and take some more pictures! To share with you!
